Meta Platforms’ latest artificial-intelligence acquisition is a social-media network — but for AI agents, not people. On Tuesday, Axios reported that Meta META had acquired Moltbook for an undisclosed price.

Meta on Tuesday said it agreed to acquire Moltbook, a social media platform designed for AI agents that launched earlier this year, the latest acquisition by the Facebook parent as it ramps up AI spending to compete with Alphabet and OpenAI.

The company said today it has agreed to buy a startup called Moltbook, which is an experimental social media platform that was built specifically for autonomous artificial intelligence agents. It has been described as a bot-only version of Reddit.

Moltbook creators Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will also reportedly join the tech giant’s AI research unit, Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). Launched in late January, Moltbook has a similar design to Reddit,
